the need to be green
Approximately one third of the energy produced
in the UK is used in domestic heating, and of that
energy approximately one third is lost to the environment
through poor insulation and lack of air tightness
in domestic dwellings.

The Building Regulations Code has been changing
over recent years in an attempt to address this
issue, and continues to change, with the introduction
of the EPBD (energy performance building directive)
and further improvements to Part L of the code.
The Government intends to improve energy efficiency
in buildings by 40 percent in an attempt to reduce
carbon emissions and tackle climate change.
Timber Framed houses meet and surpass all present
and forthcoming legislation, and can be designed
to provide living environments that require no heating
at all, so called ‘zero heat’ housing.
Furthermore, these structures are produced from
a truly sustainable product using timber selected
from carefully managed sources of supply.
Embedded energy describes how much energy was involved
in the production of the materials used.
Timber, since it is a natural product with minimal
post processing has little embedded energy.
Cement and aggregate based products however have
a high level of embedded energy present from the
pre and post processing required.
As a company we try to be proactive in the environmental
housing market.
We are able to advise upon, supply and fit a range
of components and systems which further enhance
the green credentials of a building and provide
energy and cost saving benefits for the home owner.
These include:
